The Philippines celebrates the National
Indigenous Peoples Month every October, honoring the rich cultures and contributions of indigenous communities. It also highlights the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Act(I PRAY) with the theme:"Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong:Pahalagahan, PangalagaanatL Parangalan "(Valuing, Nurturing and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge).This celebration focuses,promote awareness and appreciation towards the indigenous communities and highlighting the importance of valuing their rights.
The celebration includes cultural performances,
exhibitions and discussions. These activities educate the society about the traditions, beliefs and the practices of the indigenous communities that makes people have a deeper understanding and appreciation of their one of a kind identities. It reminds us of their vital role preserving biodiversity and sharing sustainable practices rooted in their unique way of life. These events encourage Filipinos to promote our rich history and the contributions of the indigenous people.
