Behind every innocent laugh is a child who just wants to feel loved, safe and protected. Yet, countless Filipino children live in fear, drowning in extreme violence breaking their dreams in life. This year's National Children's month theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” is not just a call to action, it's a reminder for a urgent need to ensure every child's safety and well-being.
Violence takes many forms-physical,emotional and sexual abuse. These realities rob children of their childhood, leaving them deep scars that could last for lifetime. In the Philippines the presence of child abuse is extremely alarming. Studies have proven that many children experienced violence with their homes, schools and communities-that should be their safe havens. Ending this cycle requires collaborative effort. We can start by raising awareness about the rights of every child and the long-term effects of abuse to them. Parents and Guardians play a vital role in providing their child an environment where they feel safe, protected and valued. Meanwhile, educators and community leaders should also ensure schools and public spaces promote kindness and respect while actively preventing the effects of violence and other harmful behaviors.
By breaking the silence that surrounds the violence and uniting as one, we can protect every child's dream and life. By doing collaborative approach, we can achieve a safer environment where every child feels safe and protected. Every simple step counts, start promoting and spreading kindness, because every little effort results with a very helpful impact.
